6 Cold Plungers
👭👭👭

I cold plunge 4x week with other women in Lake Washington.

Depicted below-left of my artist’s signature, you will find the winter hats of myself and 5 of these women, in a circle, bobbing in the water.

This same arrangement was also depicted in Rising, a recent yarn painting I made of Mt. Rainier.

1 Mama Duck & 5 Baby Ducks
🦆🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥

Our cold plunge group regularly sees wildlife. The spring of 2025, a mother duck arrived with 6 babies. They were curious, circling around us and watching what we were doing before bobbing off to play or fish.

The mural depicts the mom and 5 of her ducklings near the edge of the lake.

1 Lost 6th Baby Duck 🐥

Several days after the ducks appeared, we saw them again. However, the mom only had 5 ducklings with her. As we speculated about the possible demise of the 6th baby, we decided instead it had gone off on an adventure.

The mural depicts the 6th duckling alone, visiting the base of the Space Needle.

2 Bald Eagles 🦅 🦅

We regularly see bald eagles—adults and juvenile—when we cold plunge or paddle board in Lake Washington. They have several nests in the area, and are often frolicking with the crows (by which I mean, fighting midair for fish).

Depicted in the mural are 2 bald eagles, perched in an evergreen tree, watching the world go by.

Crow Commute
🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛

Every day, just before sunset, a large murder of crows commutes from the city of Seattle to their roosting spot on the campus of UW Bothell or nearby Redmond, northeast of the city. They fly over the NE Settle neighborhood where the mural resides. So, they are depicted in their daily commute across the length of the mural.
